Friday Favorites

It was a great week. Maybe even an awesome week. But certainly a productive. Creative. Active week. Here are a few of my favorite moments. And happenings for this week….

My Happy Place

Running went well.

Bruiser playing trucks

I spent time my little nephew aka “Brusier”

He is such a sweet. Easy and fun little guy. He even fell asleep for a little while and I got some studying time in. And I was gently reminded what it’s like to not be able to go pee alone. Or much of anything alone. But I loved every minute of it!

I did more cross training then running this week. By cross training I mean yard work and preparing to plant my garden. I am on a mission to have everything planted. Trimmed. Weeded. And a project painted this weekend. I am so. SO sore. But a good kind of sore.

Baby Chicks

Remember when I mentioned I was getting baby chicks to eat all the yucky bugs and snails in my garden?

Getting Bigger

Well I did. They are already thinking snails are pretty f-ing yummy. They have pretty neat personalities. And yes. Chickens do have personalities. I can’t wait for them to get rid of all the snails.

Tiny Heart

I received a conditional offer for a job. If everything continues to run smoothly, I will be starting work in 3-4 weeks. Or less. It depends on how soon I can get fingerprinted etc. I am excited and a little apprehensive. Grad school isn’t going anywhere. I am still going to be doing everything I already do. And I will have the same amount of hours in the day. I do know I will manage it all. How. That’s a great question. Let’s just say, my life is about to get really, really interesting.

Dried Leaf Heart

And I have already started my May goals. Stay tuned for thoughts on my April goals, May goals and much more!

Did you make any goals for May?

Do you think chickens have personalities?

What did you do today to be active?

First think you thought of when you woke up?

Until next time, always be true to yourself and think like a boss!

  1. In response to your questions.
Goals for May … continue bicycling at least three days a week. Yes, I’m still getting it done. Figure out how to start writing again.
Chickens — I don’t have any idea. I know this I want to have chickens for their eggs but the rules in our county are ridiculous and it won’t be happening any time soon.
What did I do today to be active? Absolutely nothing, but I rode 20 miles yesterday and hope to do 30 tomorrow.
First think you thought of when you woke up? Can I go back to sleep.

Congrats on the job offer. You will figure out how to get it all done and, in the long term, be better for all of this incredible hard work you are putting into all of this.

That nephew looks pretty special. Enjoy him.

  2. Awesome May goal, so happy you’re cycling is going well! 30 miles is a trek, you rock! 🙂

We aren’t allowed to have chickens either in the city either, so if I end up with any roosters I have to take them to my parents, otherwise, my neighbors have been fine with it. (I’ve had before)

That was my forts thought this morning too, my body is bruised up and feeling the yard work!

Thank you with regard to the job! It feels good to starting my second career in a sense.

My nephew is such a little love! 🙂

    Have an awesome weekend! 🙂

    • I’m running a local 5k this morning.

Yes, chickens have personalities. I think all animals do.

First thing I thought when I woke up this morning: “please let it be a
respectable hour!”. It was not. Up at 4:30 again 😦

I guess my only goal for May is to ease back into running without injuring myself…

One of these days I’ll plant a garden. I’ve been thinking about it for years.

      Congrats on the new job!

      Congrats on the new job!

      • I hope you had a great 5K! Oh ugh, I have been waking up a 3am and having trouble getting back to sleep, then as soon as I do the alarm goes off!

I got a ton of work done in the yard, started and finished a couple unplanned projects so my garden should be planted tomorrow. You should plant one! Even if you plant an herb container, its so nice to go out and pick fresh veggies and herbs! 🙂

Thank you with regard to the job, things should be interesting! 🙂

  3. Great pics, love the place you run. It’s like a grand adventure 🙂 Chickies…have lots of personality, especially with some stir fried veges or with some cajun spices… 😛

    • Thank you! This is actually a newer place I discovered not too long ago, to the right of the path there is a small creek, its so pretty! Lol about the chickens! I won’t be eating these, but I do love eating chicken! 😉

  4. I am a bad goal keeper. I make them but then I sabotage myself, always! So, I don’t make them so much anymore. Just finished my second 5K of the year today. It is usually a big deal because most of them are not local. Last Saturday it was just a 90 min drive but todays was 2 hr drive. So, we make reservations and stayed in a motel to get there early enough this morning. It was also one that 3 of my sister are in so it was more of a reunion. So that was my activity of the day. It always makes me want to do more to get my time lower. I have competed in this 5K for the last 3 years and get worse every year. Old age, added weight and bad winter roads made a difference again for the second year. It was fun and I did better than I thought I would. I only lost by 2 minutes to my sister who is 15 yrs younger than me.

Never had chickens so can not answer that but always wanted some as I love eggs.

First thought this morning was how I need to bring my own pillow when I stay at motels. Hate strange pillows, usually too big.

    • The 5K sounds fun and a great little getaway is always good! I can relate to the goal thing, without realizing it I set myself up for April (increasing mileage and adding hills) I managed to do okay, but not a great combination for a running goal for me.

And I always bring my pillow(s) on getaways! 😉

  5. Wow-what a wonderful week on every level, and I couldn’t be happier for you! Congratulations on your job offer, and I have no doubt that you will be a true Boss on the job. Keep up the amazing work, and know that I am cheering you on all the way from Kentucky. You’ve got this!!!
