New Month. New Goals.

Running Love

Anyone know where January went? I am actually a little excited to put the first month of the year behind me. My running continues to improve. I am taking things one assignment at a time with my studies. And I have also made few personal goals for February.

I have decided to try another approach to being more organized with my blogging.

Mummy flying solo inspired me to designate certain days to posting. And I love the idea! So I will be posting on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. I will be seeing what all of you pretty awesome people are up too in-between of course! Not having my blogging even somewhat organized has been nagging at me. This feels doable!

I am planning my race schedule for the year. Although I will wait until March to finalize things, I am still a bit gun-shy of allowing myself to believe my injury is behind me.

I am going to work very hard at not being so f-ing hard on myself. I actually started working on this yesterday and guess what? Apparently the world doesn’t end when I do not clean my house or do any laundry for one day. Imagine that.

And the last personal goal of mine for February is to try a new recipe each week. Things have gotten a little run-of-the-mill come dinnertime around here. Keep in mind, I am not one of those people who can take a-may-zing photos of food, but I might give it a try!

Today we are going to my sister’s house for a Superbowl party, my team isn’t playing, but it should be fun! I am off to prepare a few things before its time to go.

  1. February is going to be a slow month for me distance wise but an exciting one because I am going to Kenya for 3 weeks.

    My blog is disorganized except that I stay on topic. Though I have recently started to only post about bigger adventures rather than training.

    I got active yesterday by cycling 90km home from an overnight camp. It’s still not 6am today but I will get active by cycle commuting

    • Oh wow, Kenya, that is so awesome!! I stopped posting about training too, which has helped a little in organizing things, but I would like to get to a place where I am not always feeling behind in reading and writing. πŸ™‚


  2. Thank goodness January is over! Fingers are crossed that I don’t have to deal with another polar vortex this winter…ugh.
    Great goals! I’m terribly unorganized with my blogging. Lately I haven’t been inspired to write about anything (maybe it’s because I’m holed up in my house trying to stay warm?) so I’ve just haven’t posted as much.
    I like your idea to try a new recipe every week, it’s something I’d like to try too πŸ™‚


    • We are getting the first decent rain since December I think? Otherwise, its been 70-80’s, which is nice, but we are already looking at a drought and possible water limits, so hooray for rain! I was even tempted to go for a run in it, but I don’t have time before we leave. Hope things warm up for you! πŸ™‚


  3. I really like the idea of posting on certain days and letting your readers know those days. That means you kind of make an appointment with yourself. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself though….If you feel like blogging on those days..great…if not…no worries.
    I am crossing my fingers for you that your injury is behind you and I get to read all about your amazing races this season!


    • I know right? I am excited to give it a try, I would like to get to a place where I am not always feeling behind in reading and writing blogs! πŸ™‚ And thank you, it will feel so nice to put it all behind me and get to some real training! πŸ™‚


  4. When I first started my blog I would post almost every other day. But my blog posting has suffered as I’ve taken on really late hours at work in the last few months. I really like your idea of having set days for blog posts. I think 3 days is a good # too-enough to be an active blogger but not so much that you struggle for new ideas!


  5. I try to blog Wednesday and Sunday. It definitely helps to have specific days of the week, although sometimes I’m off by a day. My resolution for this year is to be more consistent with blogging. Also totally relate to your hesitation with injury! I’m still waiting for clearance to run post-op. Definitely a bummer when you can’t run the way you want and once could. Good luck with your recovery!


  6. My house is proof that the world goes on whether it’s clean or not πŸ™‚ Although finally this weekend, I engaged in some (very) overdue cleaning and organizing (i.e., throwing stuff out). It wasn’t a goal, but it was something that had been eating at me for months.
    The only schedule I have for my blog is my Monday Top Ten List posts with John Howell. Other than that, it’s a “free-for-all.” I post when I feel I have something to say or I find something that I want to reblog. I’m much less stressed about blogging since I stopped feeling like I had to post every day. I know a few bloggers who only post once a week and they seem successful in that they get lots of comments.
    I’m afraid to set any goals for this or any month. My day job has become more intense (long story), leaving me mentally fatigued at the end of the day. Goodness, I’m mentally fatigued right now and it’s the beginning of my day πŸ˜‰


    • That is great to know! I have a difficult time letting go of not doing everything I “think” I “should” be doing around the house and otherwise, but the last couple days I have taken baby steps and it seems to be working! πŸ™‚ I hope your job becomes less intense! I completely understand being mentally fatigued, my studies/assignments leave me feeling like I just have nothing left by the end of the day sometimes! πŸ™‚
