A Glimpse Into My December

So. Where have I been? Well for starters, somehow I allowed finals to get the best of me. By the time finals were over, I never wanted to see my computer or anything related to graduate school, writing or thinking again. So I completely unplugged and jumped feet first into preparing for Christmas.

Green Heart

I sent out Christmas cards on time this year.

I went out and admired award-winning Christmas light displays.

Christmas Lights!

I made quilts for my nephews.

Car Quilt

And I made lavender sugar scrub and painted wine glasses for simple gifts.

Santa Wine Glass

Flower Wine Glass

The photos really don’t represent how beautiful the Christmas lights, quilt and wine glasses were!

Tractor Wine Glass

Mommy's Sippy Cup

Those are only a few of the wine glasses I painted. And I shopped until I dropped. Literally.

Hearts on a String

I learned two of my sisters are pregnant, both their due dates are nearly on the same day. And yes, the competition has already begun.

Red Heart

My brother got married. In Vegas. Without any family. Just for the record when you are “eloping” you don’t tell people and you don’t plan it right?! That sure made hurt my heart. In what had already been a series of family hurts. Ouch.

Yellow Heart

I hosted dinner parties. I made fudge and candy for my neighbors and friends. I
took a pretty good fall on my kitchen tile floor. I am still counting my lucky
stars I didn’t break any bones.

Cold Morning Surprise

I ran when I could.

And it felt like I walked more than I ran. For some reason I haven’t and do not feel discouraged, I continue to see progress. And progress is what really counts right?!

My old pup pulled through another mini stroke and celebrated her 14th birthday being spoiled by us with her favorite treats. She is on tough pup!

And  that 2014 is just about a day away, I getting ready to host a small get together to ring in the New Year with friends. I am also considering making a New Year’s resolution this year, but I have not come up with anything I like. Just yet.

Heart in a Leaf

So, there you have it, a glimpse of my December. I survived my finals. The family hurts. Old pup mini stroke scare. Overwhelming busyness. The holiday. And all the rest of it.  But let’s be honest.  There were definitely some questionable moments. I feel like I am still recovering emotionally and physically. But I am looking forward to a new year. And looking forward to putting 2013 behind me. 2014 feels well, limitless!

Rough Around The Edges Heart

I hope each and every one of you pretty awesome people had a wonderful holiday and I wish you nothing but the very best in 2014! And my heavens, I sure have missed you! Also a heartfelt thank you to those of you that checked in with me, it means more than you will ever know! I look forward to seeing what you all have been up too and I sure hope you missed me because this runner won’t be going too far away again any time soon.

Red Heart

And yes, I had forgotten about the contest, I am terrible about stats and such. But there is still time to go vote for the Best Blogs Contest! The easiest way to find my blog is to sort the blogs alphabetically. And, I decided, if I win, I plan on putting together an  a-may-zing little contest of sorts that includes an awesome something for some of you to win! So stay tuned, I am also going to start connecting hearts around the world!

Did you have a good holiday?

What was your favorite part of the holiday?

Do you make New Year’s Resolutions? Better yet, do you stick to them?

Until next time, always be true to yourself and think like a boss!

  1. While there may have been questionable moments, there’s a piece buried in there that screams awesome to me — unplugging and enjoying the holidays. Making gifts, sending out cards, and all of those little things. Happy New Year to you!

  2. Hey, you! You’ve been through a lot in the last month, but you definitely came through like a boss 🙂 It’s always good to understand and act on your priorities. Like putting aside your virtual life for the real one 🙂 I’ve missed you, but I’m happy to know you spent at least some of your time creating beautiful things like the quilts, the wine glasses and your hearts. Happy New Year, dear!

  3. Wow. That is a lot going on. Sorry about your brother. I’m glad to hear about all the good thinks going on. I’ve missed your posts, but figured it was the holidays.

Keep well and have an awesome Happy New Year!!!
